Is Invisalign Right For You?

invisalign right for you

Align Technology burst into the world of orthodontics in the early 2000s, completely disrupting what we knew as orthodontic treatment. They introduced Invisalign aligners, a product they promised would straighten teeth without metal or clear plastic braces.  Since then, Invisalign has treated over 12 million smiles! The first step in your Invisalign treatment is deciding if Invisalign is right for you.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are a series of clear trays designed to gradually shift your teeth. With a treatment plan created by your trusted orthodontist, your custom aligners, made from your 3-D scan, will straighten your smile without the visibility of braces.

Below will help you determine if Invisalign is right for you:

Case Complexity

From simple tooth movements to more complex cases, Invisalign has success in treating Class I, II, and III malocclusions. With their advanced technology, you are able to achieve your smile goals without the need for braces*. Invisalign aligners are able to treat underbites, overbites, crossbites, open bites, and those who have gaps or crowded teeth.

During your free consultation, our experienced orthodontist will assess your smile, help determine if Invisalign is right for you, and create a custom treatment plan.

Responsibility Level

While there is a benefit of being able to take your aligners in and out, it also comes with a level of responsibility. Starting your Invisalign journey comes with a commitment to wearing your aligners for 22 hours a day to ensure your treatment stays on track.

The trays only work when they are in, and because you are able to remove them, some forget to put them back in or even lose them.

Good Oral Hygiene

As we mentioned, your aligners are to be in for 22 hours per day. While in your aligners you are to brush your teeth every time after eating, as well as clean your aligners regularly. At the beginning of treatment, it can take a little time to establish this routine, but if your oral hygiene isn’t good beforehand it could be even harder.

Putting in your aligners after eating without brushing your teeth can cause bacteria to grow while wearing them. This can lead to tooth decay. Good oral hygiene can prevent this by regularly brushing your teeth and maintaining your aligners.
